Tall Tree Hill

290-Tall Tree Hill-is sometimes called Tall Tree Ridge.  It is a high prominent ridge along the Greater Shawnee Hills escarpment, 3.5 miles N-NW of Vienna, and 2 miles east of Buncombe.  Dutchman Creek flows along its east side.  Much of the relatively  level top was cleared years ago, but the surrounding bluffs and rocky slopes are still forested.  The hill is about 1 mile due west of the west end of King Hill lane off Dutchman Lake Road.

A former owner of land on top of the southern end of Tall Tree Ridge constructed a small airplane landing strip, a lodge with cabins and a lake in the hope of establishing a tourist business.  The facilities are used by small groups today but the dreams of the original owned have never been realized.
