Jasper County
Located in Northwestern Indiana, Jasper County was named after Sgt. William Jasper of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War. The largest city in Jasper County is Rensselaer, which is also the county seat and home to St. Joseph’s College. Remington,an agricultural community was founded in 1860 and was originally known as Carpenter Station, after Carpenter Creek where a railroad station had been established. The name was later changed to Remington after the founder of their General Store. Remington has also hosted the “Fountain Park Chautauqua” for over 100 years, a 2 week celebration of family values and community fellowship. There is a very large modernized Dairy Farm near Fair Oaks which operates tours for the public. The County is mostly agricultural with many beautiful farms.
