Benton County
Benton County was named in honor of Thomas H. Benton, who was a Missouri Senator. Fowler is the County Seat and the is the county’s largest city. It is mostly an agricultural landscape with the addition of a move toward wind energy as is witnessed by the many wind turbines turning in the sky. Oxford, the original County Seat located in the southeastern part of the county, was the home of Dan Patch, a Standardbred pacer harness horse, who never lost a race. We were honored to have been invited to visit the stable.
