White County
Formed in 1834, Wells County was named for Isaac White of Equality, Illinois who was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. The County Seat is located in Monticello, which was named after the Virginia estate of President Thomas Jefferson. Monticello is known as a tourist destination with its Indiana Beach amusement park, Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman. Also of note, the Meadow Lake Wind Farm is located in the county, as well as Jasper and Benton Counties. It has 303 turbines to date, with plans to develop additional phases.
