Henry County
Named after Patrick Henry, Governor of Virginia, Henry County is located midway between Indianapolis and Ohio. The city of New Castle is the County Seat, which is also home to the largest high school gymnasium in the world, The New Castle Fieldhouse. Also of interest, Knightstown is famous for the 1986 film “Hoosiers”, as the Hoosier Gym was used in the filming of this movie. The gym currently hosts Indiana’s best high school basketball players in the Annual Hoosier Classic. A visit to the Hoosier Gym would be worthwhile. The county is largely agricultural with many beautiful farms. As a side note, the setting of the fictional novel, Raintree County, by Ross Lockridge, Jr., was Henry County.
